Upload Media to OID Kaltura Account

Login to the KMC

  1. Go to https://kmc.kaltura.com/index.php/kmcng/login
  2. Email: oid@docs.rutgers.edu; Ru+gers0!D2019
  3. Click "Create"

Choose "Upload from Desktop" (assuming you have the video file saved to your computer)

Choose the file and click upload.

Add yourself as a co-editor/co-publisher to access the caption editor

 

Click the three dots in the far right of the row for for video, then click "View Details"

Click "Users" in the far left

Start typing your netid in the field for both co-editor and co-publisher.  When you see your netid appear, click on it.

Click "save" in the upper left.

To Find the Captions

  1. Access your "My Media" and find the video
  2. Click on the video thumbnail to access the video detail page.

Note: The Edit button does not contain the caption editor. Click either the video or the video title.

Access the Editor

  1. Click on "Actions" on the video details page to expand the drop-down menu.
  2. Click Caption Requests.

If this is your first time accessing captions for this video, you will need to click "Refresh List: CLICK HERE to see all Caption Requests for this media.

Click "Edit" on the right to access the caption editor. To edit captions, you must be the owner or co-publisher of the video entry.

 

  1. Next you will want to follow the steps onHow to edit your video captions.

A new browser tab will open to display the caption editor.  The recording will automatically play from the beginning.

Editor Overview

The editor is comprised of three parts.The left pane contains the transcript. The center pane contains the player controls and the editor. The right pane contains tabs for shortcuts, editor settings, and speakers to add names of different speakers. The Bulk Edit Tool may be used to modify text in your caption files in one window, as an alternative to navigating the block interface. Editors can save their edits but it will not post back to the video until Approve is clicked.

Edit the captions

  1. Find the block of text containing the caption you want to edit.
  2. Click the block of text to select it. The block will turn yellow and the caption will appear under the player controls in the center pane.
  3. The video may auto-play. Click within the green scrubber to jump to  various points of the video. Edit the text in the yellow center pane.
  4. To save a draft of your edits and NOT publish them, click Save.The updated captions will not be posted to the video but will be saved as a draft in Cielo24.
  5. To save your edits AND publish them to the video, click Approve below the text editor when you are finished editing. Your edits will be published to the video.
  6. Click Approve again in the popup box.

 

Edit Time Stamps

  1. Navigate to the menu on the top-left corner and click Timestamps to reveal the start and end times for each sentence.
  2. Locate the editable timestamp entries, which are found at the left  of the sentence panel or in the center panel above and below the  selected sentence.
  3. Type in the new timestamp values or use the up/down keys to edit the timestamps.
  4. Sentences cannot overlap, if you push back the end time of a sentence, the start time of the following sentence will be pushed back  as well.
  5. Save and Approve your changes.

Use Bulk Edit Tool

  1. Navigate to the menu on the top-left corner and click Bulk Edit.  This triggers the sentence panel to be displayed as a single text input.
  2. Instead of clicking to edit each sentence, all of the text is contained as a single input that may be edited just like a regular document.
  3. Modify your text.
  4. Leave the Bulk Edit view by clicking Return to Sentence View to review your changes before saving.
  5. To save a draft of your edits and NOT publish them, click Save.The updated captions will not be posted to the video but will be saved as a draft in Cielo24.
  6. To save your edits AND publish them to the video, click Approve below the text editor when you are finished editing. Your edits will be published to the video.
  7. Click Approve again in the popup box.
